Prayer and Action: Afghanistan and Haiti

    Pray For Afghanistan:

More than 82,000 people have been airlifted out of Kabul since the Taliban takeover. Over 10,000 are still waiting to be evacuated, with the numbers expected to rise. Please join us as we continue to pray:

    • For the families of the US military service members who have lost their lives in these heroic rescue efforts. For our service members who have been wounded, and all those in harm's way. For the families of Afghans who have lost their lives.
    • For the success of ongoing evacuation efforts
    • Against the violence and mass chaos outside of the Kabul airport
    • For the service men and women serving on the ground in Afghanistan
    • For those who are fleeing Afghanistan and will now have to make a new home in a foreign country
    • For the protection and safety of those unable to leave
    • For those most vulnerable to violence and death: girls, women, Christians, and Afghans who worked for and with western governments and aid organizations

    Afghanistan Action:

    • Care for our active-duty military and veterans. Here is a short article with practical ways you can minister to those in the military.
    • Continue to support the resettlement efforts of Homes Not Borders. If you want to volunteer for setups you can do so HERE or purchase items from their Amazon Wishlist.
    • If you have furniture and household donations you can drop them off at the warehouse every day (weekends included) from 10-2 (3610 East Street, Landover, MD).
    • Additionally, we are partnering with local churches in the DMV, Lutheran Social Services, and International Rescue Mission to meet needs.

    Haiti Prayer:

    • Haiti's Compass and the ongoing care of children recently orphaned by the earthquake and the trauma they are experiencing.
    • For the families of those who have died, the death toll from the Haiti earthquake has risen to over 2,200, with thousands more injured.
    • For the basic necessities such as food, water, and medicine.

    Haiti Action:

    • If you'd like to continue to support relief efforts in Haiti please visit Haiti's Compass, a non-profit run by NCCers that provides support and funding to our long-term Haitian partners, the Franceli and Julie Joseph.
    • Or you can give to World Relief who are providing medical supplies, food, and other resources through local churches.
