Facilities Ministry Support Specialist

Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled and reliable worker to join our team to perform a variety of ministry support, facility maintenance and repair tasks. The Facilities Ministry Support Specialist is a member of the Facilities Engineering Team and therefore adheres to all policy and procedures governing the team. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of jobs, including assembling and moving furniture, painting, assisting engineers with carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, and other general upkeep duties to ensure our properties are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working problem-solver with strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality work.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with performing general maintenance and repairs, such as fixing leaky faucets, patching drywall, repairing broken furniture, and replacing light bulbs and fixtures.
- Maintain properties exterior appearance by cutting and edging grass, trash pick-up and other tasks that contribute to the beautification process.
- Handle basic electrical, HVAC and plumbing tasks, such as replacing switches, changing filters, unclogging drains, and fixtures.
- Complete minor carpentry projects, to include assembling furniture, hanging whiteboards and minor drywall work.
- Perform interior and exterior painting and surface touch-ups as needed.
- Assist with setting and resetting furniture in various areas.
- Conduct routine inspections of properties and equipment to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Ability to collaborate with ministry groups and leaders on various work orders and requests.
- Maintain accurate records of all completed work, materials used, and repairs performed.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Manage and maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and inventory of tools and supplies.
- Assist with the weekly facilities on call responsibilities and duties.
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Other related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Facilities Manager
Required Skills and Experience
Key Competencies
- Experience as a handyman or similar role.
- Entry level experience and knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Ability to use, or learn, a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Ability to use, or learn to use, a variety of hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills for professional interaction with staff ,other clients and vendors.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting objects up to 50 lbs, moving or pushing items up to 80-100 lbs using lifts or a pallet jack, climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces.
- Experience working in a church or para-church organization, especially with Ministry staff, preferred
- Adheres to the NCC Leadership Covenant and core convictions
- Desire and passion to serve Christ in the local church and community
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
