GriefShare Grief & Loss Support Groups Are Here for You.

A GriefShare support group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this 13-week group, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s normal in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictabilityā€”and gain solid support each step of the way. A typical meeting includes a video, conversation (you don’t have to talk if you don’t want to) and a workbook for weekday followup exercises.

While NCC is not currently offering GriefShare, many other churches in the DC area (and elsewhere) are offering it online or in-person. Visit GriefShare.org and enter your location to find meetings near you.

His Breath Presence: Tap into the incredible power of God’s gift THE BREATH OF LIFE.. Learn to how to activate his breath presence with your breath flow, how to harness his gift of life and awaken the potential within and create change from the inside out. God initiated 4 breaths of love for us: 1. When he created the heavens and the Earth. Genesis 1-2 2. When he formed man from the dust and breathed into his nostrils. Genesis 2:7 3. When he gave his last sacrificial breath and died for our sins. Matthew 27:50 4. When he has ascended to heaven and breathed the Holy Spirit upon us. John 20:22 Unfortunately, most of us are unaware of how to breathe property, harness and use our breath flow to cultivate God’s breath presence in us. His breath presence has the power to influence every decision of our mind, every action of our body, control our emotions, and affects every system in our body (cardiovascular, nervous, endocrine, lymphatic, immune, digestive, respiratory), nurtures the mind, and fuels the body. Let’s start the morning and week off by walking one inch taller, breathing our way into our Godly greatness, harnessing the power of his breath gift, and activating the strength of our BREATH & Mind + Body + Spirit. We meet once a week on Monday mornings from 7 to 8 am. Active breathwork will reconnect you with your breath, expand your lung capacity, activate the your diaphragm, pelvic floor and your entire myofascial core box. Breathe powerfully and increase myofascial mobility using various breathing styles. Benefits of harnessing the power of our breath: Decreases stress and muscle tension Calms nerves Sharpens focus Minimizes negative and distracting thoughts Reduce fatigue Promote stamina Reduce anxiety Adopting a regular, long-term schedule of breathing practice will improve the body’s ability to manage stress, improve athletic training, find calm, and aid in recovery and all-around human performance. Found in biblical and ancient texts supported by evidence-based science, breathwork training is the secret weapon of many professional athletes and high performers.

The NCC Men’s Community consists of small groups meeting in different locations, all linked in the common purpose of fostering a safe place of spiritual, social and intellectual depth where men committed to God and building His Kingdom can grow in friendship with other men, draw closer in relationship with Jesus and become ever more the men God intended us to be as we navigate the challenges of modern life. This group meets in the Dunn Loring area near Mosaic district.

Ā

The small groups meet weekly, except for once a month when all the groups will meet together at The Capital Turnaround to enable friendships to develop among men in the various small groups. At those monthly meetings, in addition to a couple of “TED” talks about our study topic and some mixed group discussions, we’ll follow up with “Social Time” where adult beverages, smoothies and cigars are likely to appear. The Community will also conduct quarterly retreats down at David Grizzle’s farm in Lexington, VA. Our retreats involve hard hikes, deep conversation, running chainsaws, time for reflection, skeet shooting, and prayer, as well as unbelievably good food. The intention is that each man would be able to attend a retreat at least twice a year. We are also intent on building a service culture involving serving our homeless neighbors.

Ā

We will also follow a common curriculum, studying Romans with a strong emphasis on application and building strong Christ-focused relationships. We always place a high priority on being known and seen in a safe community.

Ā

We intend for our group to be very inclusive. No one is not the right man for this group.
